WIN number different when N4.3 is loaded after 3.8.111

AX/N4 HostID Synchronization

HostID on the AX3.8u2 and 4.3.58.18 installs should remain static, even after windows updates.

If the PC has several different versions installed and they have had to move the licence to a new HostID after a previous Windows upgrade then the N4 and AX HostIDs may no-longer be the same.

If the AX/N4 versions are not synchronised follow the below procedure:

This requires windows registry edits so is not without some risks and may require changing your existing licence to another hostid.

1. As a precaution, make a windows restore point.

2. Quit any running Niagara workbenches.

3. Open Command Prompt window as Administrator

4. Print HostID for each installed version:
cd c:\Niagara
Niagara-3.8.111\bin\nre -hostid
Niagara-3.8.213\bin\nre -hostid
Niagara-4.3.58.2\bin\nre -hostid
(add other versions if installed)

5. Check and compare HostIDs on each version (Edit directory names to match installed versions if different to those in this example)

6. If 32 bit installs on a 64bit PC:
a.Regedit
b. Export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE as backup
c.Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Niagara4
d. Delete keys hid3 and pid3

7. If 64 bit installs on a 64bit PC:
a. Regedit
b. Export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE as backup
c. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Niagara4
d. Delete keys hid3 and pid3

8. Re-run commands to verify HostIDs (RUN IN VERSION ORDER)
Niagara-3.8.111\bin\nre -hostid
Niagara-3.8.213\bin\nre -hostid
Niagara-4.3.58.2\bin\nre -hostid
(add other versions if installed)

9. The legacy versions should retain their original HostID, then the first “Fixed” nre version to run should generate a new HostID, ( which should be the same as legacy versions) which the other fixed versions should then use.

10. Verify all have the same HostID, contact Tridium to move your licence over to the new HostID if it has changed.
